On the Job
Attorney Laura E. Callan’s practice concentrates on commercial and asset-based lending transactions, which include drafting and negotiating the full gamut of loan documents. As well, she is experienced at advising secured lenders on workout strategies, and enforcing their rights relative to collection, foreclosure, repossession, or bankruptcy proceedings.
Laura also has substantial experience representing quasi-governmental entities, particularly economic development organizations statewide. She has been designated by the United States Small Business Administration as a 504 closing attorney and brings to Stafford Rosenbaum an extensive knowledge of federal, state, and municipal government-sponsored loan programs.
Laura also specializes in commercial dispute resolution by litigation, arbitration, or mediation. Cost control is a major feature of her approach to litigation. She routinely recommends creative solutions to dispute resolution and seeks early settlement opportunities whenever they are advantageous to her clients in terms of cost and outcome.
Laura also regularly represents individuals and businesses in commercial and real estate transactions, identifying, quantifying, and reducing legal risks to business transactions. These transactions involve commercial leasing, purchase and sale transactions, development, as well as financing and construction contracting. She also offers extensive experience in a wide variety of general corporate and commercial transactions, including asset purchases and business start-ups.
