Stafford Rosenbaum LLP partner, Paul G. Kent, has been newly named a Fellow of the American College of Environmental Lawyers (“ACOEL”). Attorney Kent is among twenty-five attorneys nationwide to be named Fellows in 2019, and he is the only Wisconsin-based attorney to be added for the year. According to the ACOEL website, Fellows are dedicated to ensuring and improving the ethics of environmental law practices; justice; and the continued development of environmental law at the national and state level.

“[T]he twenty-five lawyers elected as Fellows to the College this year include the top environmental lawyers in government service, public interest, academia, and private practice drawn from across the country. These individuals, chosen by their peers, have earned this recognition based on achievements over a minimum 15-year period, during which they have led the field in diverse areas of environmental law and policy,” said ACOEL President Allan Gates, according to the organization’s August 13 release.

This recognition adds to the many already received by Attorney Kent. He has been named in Best Lawyers in America since 1995, including several Lawyer of the Year recognitions, and he has been included in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business Directory since 2011, including a top ranking in 2018 for Natural Resources and Environmental Law. On a more local level, Attorney Kent has been recognized as a 2016 Leader in the Law by the Wisconsin Law Journal, and he has been selected as a Wisconsin Super Lawyer since 2005.

Beyond developing an expertise in Environmental Law, Attorney Kent has demonstrated a long commitment to furthering education and sharing his knowledge of the law. He has served as an adjunct professor for the University of Wisconsin Law School since 1989 and as a visiting professor of environmental law at the East China University of Political Science and Law in Shanghai (2012). In 2008, Attorney Kent received the Warren Stolper Award for Adjunct Faculty of the Year from the University of Wisconsin Law School. He has written several books, including Wisconsin Water Law in the 21st Century.
