About Handling a Basic Divorce 2024

Because every divorce is different, family lawyers must possess a wide range of skills and legal knowledge. Handling a Basic Divorce will help lawyers understand the key components of divorce, be prepared to address common scenarios, learn to differentiate between matters that should go to court and those that can be resolved by other means.

Amy’s portion of the seminar will define some of the language and jurisdictional requirements involved in divorce matters; provide an overview of property division, maintenance, custody, placement, child support, and the role of guardians ad litem; discuss options such as mediation or arbitration as alternatives to litigation; and give lawyers some insightful tips for managing client expectations and helping clients achieve the results they want. Other presenters will discuss divorce process resources, client interviews, the discovery process, trial preparation, and post-judgment issues.
