Kyle W. Engelke, a Senior Associate with Stafford Rosenbaum LLP, has been named an American Bar Foundation (ABF) Fellow, a distinction reserved for the top 1% of U.S. attorneys. The Fellows are well-established legal professionals with exemplary careers and dedication to their communities. The American Bar Foundation (ABF) serves the legal profession, the public, and the academy through empirical research, publications, and programs, all advancing justice and the understanding of law, including its impact on society. Kyle is Stafford Rosenbaum’s first associate to be named an ABF Fellow, though he joins three current partners at Stafford Rosenbaum with this distinction.

“We are so proud to see one of our associates named a Fellow. This is a rare occurrence, with most additions to the Fellowship being partners, but it’s a good fit for an exceptional young attorney like Kyle. We are excited to see him continue to serve the legal profession and the public in his new role,” said Christopher B. Hughes, Managing Partner of Stafford Rosenbaum LLP and ABF Fellow.

Kyle came to Stafford Rosenbaum showing great potential. “From the start, even as a clerk, we knew Kyle would be a strong addition to our team,” said Stafford Rosenbaum LLP Partner and Litigation Team leader, Susan K. Allen.

Kyle first joined Stafford Rosenbaum LLP in 2012 as a Law Clerk and became a Litigation Associate in 2013 following his graduation from the University of Wisconsin Law School. During his time with the firm, Kyle’s practice has grown into one that is robust and marked with success. Ranging from jury trials to arguing before the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Kyle spends his time handling all aspects of trial practice. His practice varies from commercial litigation and civil rights defense to personal injury and wrongful death claims. His experience includes fair dealership claims, corporate control contests, whistleblower claims involving misappropriation of trade secrets, and defending against excessive force claims.

“Kyle is eager, intuitive, and engaged with the Madison community. The team, the community, and the American Bar Foundation are all lucky to have him,” said Allen.

While Kyle’s passion is courtroom practice, he also dedicates his time to the community.  Kyle serves as the Secretary of the Madison Parks Foundation, whose predecessor organization (the Madison Parks and Pleasure Drive Association) traces its roots back to the same man as Stafford Rosenbaum – John Olin.  Kyle also serves on the board of the Dane County Bar Association and has been appointed to the Bench and Bar Committee of the State Bar of Wisconsin.   This level of community service has not gone unnoticed. Being named an ABF Fellow is just one of Kyle’s impressive career milestones. Kyle has also been named an Up and Coming Lawyer by the Wisconsin Law Journal and as a Wisconsin Rising Star by Super Lawyers.
