Stafford Rosenbaum Sponsors 2025 Election Matters Seminar Series

Sponsored in its entirety by Stafford Rosenbaum, Election Matters 2025 is a series of free seminars hosted by the Elections Research Center and State Democracy Research Initiative (SDRI) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The educational series will bring together diverse experts to tackle evolving election-related issues.
Please join us on Friday, October 3, from 3:00-4:15pm Central for “Money, Politics, and the First Amendment.” In-person attendance for this panel will take place in Room 2260 of the University of Wisconsin Law School, or virtual attendees can watch by Zoom. The panel will discuss the impacts of increasingly expensive elections and the tension between campaign finance regulation and free speech. The panelists will include Benjamin Ginsberg (Hoover Institution), Saurav Ghosh (Campaign Legal Center), Raymond La Raja (UMass Amherst, Political Science), Abby Wood (USC Gould School of Law) and will be moderated by ERC Director Barry Burden (UW-Madison, Political Science). This seminar is approved for 1.5 Wisconsin CLE credits. There will be an in-person reception to follow.
Earlier seminars in the Election Matters 2025 series took place on March 7 and July 10. “Understanding State Supreme Court Elections: Wisconsin & Beyond” featured leading experts on judicial elections and campaign dynamics and explored the impact, funding, and political context of state supreme court races and how these factors share the judicial landscape. “Year in Review: Democracy Litigation in SCOTUS and the States” featured a panel who recapped the previous 12 months of election-related litigation at the national and state levels.
