Stafford Rosenbaum Attorney Ginger Pinkerton spotlighted for pro bono volunteer work by Legal Action of Wisconsin
Attorney Ginger Pinkerton received attention recently from Legal Action of Wisconsin, as part of a special spotlight on her attorney volunteer work with the Consumer Debt Defense Clinic. Legal Action of Wisconsin is a law firm of 135 attorneys and staff members helping to bring about systemic and structural change through litigation and advocacy, serving more than 20,000 people every year.
Ginger says in her spotlight, “We all have an ethical obligation to do good works, both in and outside of our professions. And in my experience, we learn and take away as much from the experience as the clients do. Volunteering with the Consumer Debt Defense Clinic has given me a heightened awareness of the importance of procedural compliance in legal practice. For example, issues with pleading requirements and service of process come up frequently in the clinic. I’ve learned not to underestimate the importance of exercising real scrutiny when assessing whether these requirements have been satisfied. The volunteer and managing attorneys and law student interns have been wonderful to work with, and the work is collaborative. Legal Action also makes it easy to get involved and is organized, supportive, and responsive.”
Ginger’s spotlight is particularly timely during National Pro Bono Week, launched by the American Bar Association in 2009 with the purpose of highlighting the vital role of pro bono attorneys, law students, and legal staff in expanding access to justice, protecting civil rights, and supporting individuals who cannot afford legal representation
