We at Stafford Rosenbaum LLP recently experienced the devastating loss of a Partner, Attorney Kurt Simatic, to a sudden and unexpected illness.

Kurt graduated cum laude from Marquette University Law School, and he joined the firm in 2018, bringing with him experience in all aspects of litigation and a background in working at the Wisconsin Legislature. In addition to working on appeals, defending municipalities, and representing many business clients, Kurt contributed greatly to the firm’s 2020 startup of its Election and Political Law practice group.

“Kurt was an outstanding advocate and counselor. Upon joining our firm, Kurt quickly demonstrated the skills, experience and judgment necessary to gain clients’ confidence, and he became an integral part of our team, someone whom his partners could always rely on. Speaking on behalf of Stafford Rosenbaum, we collectively mourn Kurt’s inexplicable death; he will leave a lasting impression on our attorneys and staff,” said James Egle, Managing Partner at Stafford Rosenbaum.

“Kurt will be sorely missed by all of us. The future was very bright for Kurt, and he will be remembered for  his strong character, bright mind and dry wit. Our condolences are sent to all who were lucky enough to know him,” said Kyle Engelke, Partner at Stafford Rosenbaum.

Kurt’s reputation within our firm could be characterized by his strong work ethic, professionalism, and a dedication to developing and mentoring other young attorneys at the firm. Despite his hard work, Kurt was never too busy for a friendly hello.

Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are extended to Kurt’s family and friends, with whom we share this unexpected loss. Please find Kurt’s full obituary here.
