Environmental Week in Preview – Week of October 14, 2013
October 16, 2013: The DNR will hold a public hearing on the proposed WPDES permit modification and nutrient management plan for New Chester Dairy LLC in Grand Marsh. The Dairy currently has 12,540 animal units and has a total of 43,432 acres available for land application of manure and process wastewater. The purpose of the modification is to provide for the construction of sweet corn silage bunkers and a waste storage pond.
October 17, 2013: The DNR will hold a public meeting of the Small Business Environmental Council. Included on the agenda are an update on the construction and operation permit program requirements, an overview of the 50% Registration Permit, an overview of VOC control regulations for lithographic printing and a discussion on program objectives.
What to look for in coming weeks:
October 23, 2013: The Natural Resources Board will hold a public meeting in Madison. Included on the agenda is the adoption request of proposed rules relating to environmental analysis and review procedures for department actions (ch. NR 150). Although the DNR states that the fundamental department policy regarding environmental review will not change there will be a number of procedural changes which may impact a party’s right to challenge DNR actions.
