Environmental Week in Preview – Week of November 25th, 2013
Happy Thanksgiving!
November 26th, 2013: The DNR will hold a public hearing on an air pollution control construction permit application submitted by WE Energies for a biomass-fueled cogeneration facility located in Rothschild, Wisconsin. The application includes plans and specifications for changes to emission limitations for hazardous air pollutants for a biomass fired boiler.
November 26th, 2013: The DNR will hold a public hearing on a water permit application from Elkhorn Industries to repair a dock on the bed of the St. Louis River, Superior Harbor, Superior. The hearing is being held at the request of outside parties and will be gathering additional facts to help gauge the possible impacts of the proposed project on fish and wildlife or their habitat, natural scenic beauty, surface water use and similar features of the lake.
What to look for in the coming weeks:
December 10-11, 2013: The agenda for the Natural Resource Board meeting includes a request for adoption of proposed changes to the certification of wastewater operators, adoption of proposed revisions relating to statewide minimum standards for shoreland zoning and the approval of the Secretary’s executive order to extend deadline for county adoption of updated ordinances under ch. NR 115.
