November 11 and 15, 2013: The DNR will hold a public hearing on proposed rule revisions required by section 103 of 2013 Wisconsin Act 1, the Ferrous Mining Law. The proposed rules apply statewide and are not specific to any one project. The proposed rules clarify that ferrous mining activities are regulated by subchapter III of chapter 295 and nonferrous mining activities are regulated under chapter 293 and the nonferrous mining regulations.
November 12, 2013: The agenda for Laboratory Certification Review Council includes the following items: Program audit status report, budget variance report, updates on NR 149 and 219, reciprocity issue with South Carolina, ICP training venture with SLH and low level phosphorus PT option.
November 12, 2013: The DNR will hold a public meeting for the Air Management Study Group regarding permit streamlining as well as a listening session. The workgroups on NR 406 and 407, Wis. Adm. Code and “cause or exacerbate” will meet to hear ideas from the October listening sessions on improving the permit process.
November 12, 2013: The DNR will hold a public hearing to consider modification of the requirements under subch. III of ch. 446, Wis. Adm. Code related to the control of mercury emitted by coal-fired electric generating units.
November 12, 2013: The Assembly Committee on Environment and Forestry will hold an executive session on AB 494 relating to the waiver of fees imposed on waste disposed of at a solid or hazardous waste disposal facility and SB 287 relating to public access to managed forest land that is located in a proposed mining site.
November 13, 2013: Comments are due on the DNR’s proposed guidance regarding high volume PM10/ TSP calibration, verification and audit guidance.
