May 20, 2014: The DNR will hold a public hearing on the preliminary determination to grant a variance from the lowest achievable emission rate limits for benzene and an operation permit for Brillion Iron Works Inc.

May 20, 2014: The Stream and Wetlands Crossing Work Group will hold a public meeting. The agenda includes standards for temporary crossings, clear-span bridges and culverts, identification of permit conditions that may be modified to facilitate forest management activities and review of options to implement changes such as statute or administrative code changes, exemptions, or general permit.

May 20, 2014: The DNR, EPA Great Lakes National Program Office and Milwaukee County Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture will host a public information open house regarding the Lincoln Park/ Milwaukee River Channels Phase 2 Sediment Project.

May 21, 2014: The DNR will hold a public hearing on an air pollution control construction permit application for the boiler replacement project by Packaging Corporation of America in Tomahawk. The boiler replacement project is proposed at an existing pulp and paper manufacturing plant.

May 21, 2014: The DNR is requesting comments on the economic impact of proposed rule revisions to ch. NR 106 relating to the calculation of water quality based effluent limitations for point source discharges to surface waters. The revisions include a phase out of mixing zone allowances for discharges of bioaccumulative chemicals of concern (such as mercury or copper); regulation of pollutant discharges when a pollutant is present intake water used as the water supply for industrial and municipal dischargers; removal of the exemption for noncontact cooling water; and removal of the the definition of “representative data” for determining reasonable potential to exceed water quality standard for mercury.

May 21, 2014: The DNR will hold a public meeting regarding the review of the ambient air quality monitoring network. The DNR will review the changes to the air monitoring network that occurred in 2014 and will present an outline of proposed changes in 2015. An explanation will be provided for each deviation from the previous year’s plan as well as the proposed changes.

May 23, 2014: Public comments are due on the DNR’s proposed guidance regarding Pollutant Minimization Plans and Source Reduction Measures for Variances to Water Quality Standards.
