A commercial litigator for over 20 years, Jessica Mederson began her career in Texas before bringing her national perspective and experience to Wisconsin, representing clients in construction, manufacturing, business and intellectual property disputes across the country. Mederson is a partner in Stafford Rosenbaum’s Madison office and serves on the firm’s Board of Directors.
Known for her pragmatic and strategic approach, Mederson emphasizes understanding the human side of each case. She listens first, helping clients navigate complex contractual, project and employment challenges while anticipating potential risks.
“In some ways, construction is still similar to what it was decades ago. There are a lot of construction companies that are family owned and operated and their practices haven’t changed much over the years,” Mederson said. “Another challenge that is facing the construction industry, however, is how climate change is affecting both the construction process itself as well as the finished product. I write and speak (and podcast!) about how extreme weather, extreme heat and an increasingly chaotic climate can impact the construction industry and lead to more litigation if companies don’t start adapting to this new reality. I’m basically the Ghost of Christmas Future when it comes to warning businesses about what can happen if they ignore the risks climate change poses to every part of their business.”
Attorney Jessica Mederson is a partner at Stafford Rosenbaum, litigating business and IP matters in state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration proceedings, focusing her practice on construction and manufacturing disputes, Uniform Commercial Code litigation, contract disputes, employer-side employment litigation, patent infringement, and dealership litigation. Jessica advises corporate clients on contractual negotiation issues, particularly in construction matters, and she represents municipalities, developers, architects, general contractors, subcontractors, and materials suppliers in all phases of the construction process, including contract formation, pre-litigation dispute resolution, and litigation itself. Jessica also writes, presents, and advises businesses on a variety of issues related to the built environment.
