Vanessa Wishart, an associate at Stafford Rosenbaum, was among this year’s Wisconsin Law Journal’s Up and Coming Lawyerrecipients. The Wisconsin Law Journal’s Up and Coming Lawyer honorees have been practicing eight years or less, but have demonstrated fast-track, career-long levels of achievement. Thirty members of the state’s legal community will be honored at the event held at Discovery World’s Pilot House this September.

“Vanessa is an attorney who successfully achieves the legal goals of her clients and maintains a deep commitment to the firm, the legal profession, and the community as a whole,” said Chris Hughes, Managing Partner at Stafford Rosenbaum. “Because of these achievements, Vanessa Wishart deserves to be recognized. In fact, as an attorney she is not only ‘Up and Coming’, she is already here.”

Vanessa’s practice focuses on environmental and administrative law and includes work before the DNR and PSC on water issues, wastewater permitting and regulation, and remediation and development.

Her practice is just a part of what makes Vanessa’s career admirable. Close colleagues praise Vanessa for her commitment to teamwork and to Stafford Rosenbaum. “While Vanessa has been the primary attorney for many clients, she is also the ultimate team player. She has served an integral role in many of the firm’s largest cases involving superfund sites, complex permitting and other environmental litigation,” said Paul Kent, a partner at Stafford Rosenbaum.

Vanessa graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School cum laude, and she obtained her master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison’s Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies in Environment and Resources. While in law school, Vanessa was a member of law review, and she interned at Clean Wisconsin. She was a summer associate at Earthjustice in Denver and the Environmental Law and Policy Center in Chicago. Vanessa has previously served as a law clerk at the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. Vanessa has also demonstrated her commitment to community service through her work as a Board Member and New Lawyer Director for the State Bar of Wisconsin, Environmental Law Section and as a board member of Gathering Waters, an alliance for conservation of Wisconsin’s natural resources.
