Madison Attorney Laura Lamansky

Laura Lamansky,
Senior Associate

Laura is an associate in the Milwaukee office, but frequently works out of the Madison office.  Laura’s background working with international businesses, non-profits, and individual artists provides her with unique insight into her clients’ legal needs.  She focuses her practice on intellectual property, business transactions, and trusts and estates.

Laura is admitted to practice law in Wisconsin.

Intellectual Property

Laura works on a variety of intellectual property legal matters.  For copyrights, Laura has experience in registering the work, analyzing claims of fair use, enforcing rights against infringement, terminating a copyright grant, and drafting licensing and publishing agreements.  From her work in the entertainment industry, Laura has been on both sides of the negotiation table: as a rights holder and as a rights acquirer, which is beneficial in her current practice.

For trademarks, trade secrets and patents, Laura has experience in running clearance searches for potential marks, registering marks, enforcing rights against infringement, and trademark, trade secret, and patent litigation.

Business Transactions

Laura understands the challenges that businesses experience from both legal and business perspectives from working at international companies.  Laura worked at a Chicago film equipment and production company with international distribution where she oversaw the development of a new digital strategy, the launch of a new product line, and a new educational video series.  Laura also worked at Blue Man Group Productions at their headquarters in New York where she produced videos for Blue Man Group’s brand identity and managed national special promotions.  This required a strong knowledge in contracts, negotiations, project management, and employee management.  Laura worked in the Business Affairs office at ICM Partners (a talent agency in New York) where she researched and drafted contracts and agreements on behalf of clients, including agreements for the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games.

She also has experience working with numerous non-profits and their boards.  During law school, Laura worked at a non-profit organization that helps low-income artists and non-profit organizations with legal needs.  This included drafting non-profit formation documents, liability waivers, nondisclosure agreements, and memorandums on rights of publicity.

Trusts and Estates

Laura has experience in drafting wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents.  She is also versed in probate and trust administration.
