Practice

Lis’s practice focuses on general municipal law and business matters. She assists businesses and non-profits with drafting contracts, and in navigating business formation and conversion issues. Lis has experience in a range of municipal matters, including:

  • Local government contracts.
  • Development agreements.
  • Tax increment financing.
  • Public records and open meetings.
  • Real estate transactions.
  • Discontinuance procedures.
  • Easements and rights-of-way.
  • Property acquisition and eminent domain.
  • Local zoning and subdivision regulations.

Prior to practicing law, Lis served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Mali, West Africa, and also worked to connect job seekers and employers in the metalworking trade in Chicago. She earned an M.S. in Agricultural and Applied Economics from the University of Wisconsin—Madison before going to law school.

Lis is admitted to practice law in Wisconsin.

Lis was born and raised in Madison, but has also lived in Chicago, the Netherlands and Mali (West Africa). She is now happy to be firmly planted in beautiful Madison, where she lives with her husband, Jake, an eletrical engineer.

Lis enjoys travelling and anything that gets her outdoors, and is thrilled about being a new mom.
